Another quilt and some time in the kitchen

I often say I would have been a great 1950’s housewife. I love to sew and cook, I drive a car from the 50’s (daily!) and adore the fashion from that era.

But here I am, in the present.

I finished my Mum’s quilt…. (insert photo here)…. I haven’t taken any good pics of it yet as the weather has been horrid. So I will when its a bit nicer outside (much better lighting!). I made it from a couple of Marmalade charm packs (By Bonnie and Camille) and Camille’s Dilly Dally pattern (you can find it here).

I have also been in the kitchen a fair bit. I really get the guilty when the kids eat processed foods,, especially since having the Thermomix I can make so many things myself. So we made some ‘Chocolate Jam’ (Nutella), Mixed Berry Jam, a loaf of bread (although we go through it so quickly I’m making a loaf nearly every night!), some delicious sausage rolls and some chocolate chip cookies with milk, dark, white and caramel chocolate chips….Mmmm Delish! as Hamish would say!

I did take some pics of my baking, just to make your mouth water a little bit!!

Checking in

Ok so I’ve been a bit MIA lately. This is going to be a bit of a short post as I’m ready for bed, but I thought I’d show you what I’ve been busy with….
These two as usual

Finishing this for my cousin’s new baby boy

Baking cupcakes with Tilly and teaching her how to sew (she made a doll quilt with my help, she laid it put and sat on my lap to piece it, a bit of a proud mummy moment)

So I’m now making a quilt for my mum, have many more ideas in my head and rolling along with life!
You can find me on Instagram (nellieanddot) and can you tell I’m loving the new Beautiful Mess app??

Twice finished

Last week I finished a quilt to give to my cousin at her baby shower. Then I decided I wasn’t happy with the binding so my seam ripper and I got busy and ripped it all off. So, I finished it again with new binding. I’m so much happier with the results.

This quilt is made from The Sweetest Thing fabric by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake. I left out the pinker prints as my cousin knows she is having a baby girl, but doesn’t want to be swamped by pink. Charm squares set on point with ivory sashing, what do you think?

My favourite little man got hold of my roll of double sided fashion tape (you know that stuff you put between your body and clothes to keep your clothes in place?) and pulled it all off the dispenser. Rather than just throw it out I put it on some of the scraps of fabric and made my own washi tape. Waste not want not….

Original binding

The original binding I had cut just 1/4 of an inch too thin. It just didn’t look right so had to be replaced.

Gift tag

Tilly was so excited at the baby shower when Jem opened it, it was so cute and Jem seemed to love it.
